A-: Awkward transportation for the exhausted scratching post mover.
A-Yay! I got my English midterm back! I thought I bombed it. I was totally convinced that I had, I only realized two hours before the test that I had to write it that day. I got an A- on it, highest mark in the class. I think that rocks! Psych. and Chinese I probably actually did suck on, but we'll see next week I guess! English is the only really critical one, as I need an awesome mark in there to apply to the Social Work program. Intro to Comp mid-term is on Monday after reading week... which starts on Monday, Wohoo!!! I need the break. I took reading week off work at Smellus too just so I could catch up on some things. I have a few clients to meet up with, and need to finish building my dads machine for him. Slowly but surely dad!
Awkward
I was musing the other day over my relationship with Tavish lately. Things have really settled down for us, become a lot more stable and a lot more loving. Yes we fight and argue still (or as mom likes to call it "Drama"), but they're being resolved quicker and more maturely, and not airing it in public as much anymore.
Something else is happening too. It no longer feels awkward to be in a relationship with him anymore. It used to feel strange, somehow not right, because of not being the norm I suppose. I've always been comfortable with my sexuality since it became public knowledge I was gay, and I've rarely felt the need to hide it, but I suppose a lack of gay role models who were visible to me made a same-sex relationship seam so foreign. I always felt a bit awkward, and distant, like I was keeping my options open too, but not anymore. I can't say it's intentional either; it's just evolved that way. We're comfortable together, we're normal together and I can truly say that. I now believe the only difference between a gay relationship and a straight one is the sexes of the people involved; before I assumed it, now I believe it, because I live it.
Transportation
Man, life is so different when you have a vehicle! Mom bought me a truck a few weeks ago. Well, to be precise, she bought me my brother's old truck and helped him finance a new one, but still. I feel I can do more and that I'm not tethered to one place now that I'm "mobile". We can go shopping for groceries or go to movies or leave the city without renting vehicles or cabs or harassing our friends and family anymore. It's nice. I can drive to school and work, and not feel so rushed. I love it. Thank you MA!!!
I should also note she threw in $1500 for a year worth of insurance too, which really makes life easier. I did however have about $640 in unpaid fines from my previous vehicle that I let slip, didn't get the notice for or didn't think too much to challenge. So some of the insurance money went there. However I did manage to find an awesome deal through TD Insurance. Everywhere I called quoted around $3700/year for basic PLPD, TD is giving me PLPD and Comprehensive (without windshield) for $1500/year. Now that's a deal!
Exhausted
So ends a long and tiring 6 weeks. It's reading week starting Monday and I've booked myself off. I needed it because I was burning out fast. No School, no work, no worries, mostly. I have a few things and other commitments to catch-up on but these are less than critical endeavors so I'm not overly stressed about it. I got lucky (if you can call it that) and managed to pick up an extra shift (that I'm working right now), which will make it 16 hours back-to-back at Smellus; also known as triple time! The shift I'm working now is quiet so I can rest and relax, catch some zzz's if need be and still make enough to not have to worry about taking the week off. Tavish and I are planning to go to Banff for a few days this week, now it won't be as tight as we thought, and that is good.
Scratching Post
Tavish and I stopped by PetCetra in NorthHill Mall today to find out that they're having a sale on scratching posts. We bought a $229 scratching post for our cats for $40. Now Tavish wants a dog, don't know how that associates, we'll see about that, but at $40, that scratching post is a steal.
Mover
We're moving! Tavish and I are moving to a townhouse within the Boardwalk Empire. With the rental incentives and bonuses we're getting, we'll be saving $1000 the first year, and Jeffypoo is going to move in with us which will reduce our costs as well. It's a nice three bedroom with a big an undeveloped basement Tavish and I want to turn into a mediation area. It's great in that we get to transfer our damage deposit and pet deposits, but there's a catch (there's always a catch.) In order to take advantage of this glorious prize package we have to move this week, well before March 1st specifically, but no other time works better for us then now. Talk about a deal and a fluke. So we're moving. If anyone wants to chip in and help, lemme know; standard pizza and beer offered.
I'm feeling good, content, lucky, (getting a lot of great deals lately) and all around stable. Life is definitely good. Thanks to all those involved, supernatural or otherwise.
