English Journal Assignment 8

"Shakespeare in love" was a great film. The retelling of “Romeo & Juliet” in this way made the story warmer. I appreciated the wit and joviality of the movie. Shakespeare’s attitude, and the reactions of his fellow company actors, I could almost believe that “Romeo and Juliet” had been written the way it was depicted in this movie.

I appreciated how the story had a comedic feel to it instead of the overly dramatic or tragic versions I have observed before. In fact, the sets, the costumes, the supporting characters in the movie, all lent a feel of authenticity to the dialogue and the intent, and as such, I felt a more powerful reaction to this version of “Romeo & Juliet” than I have any other, I actually began to cry at the end.
