Books, Software, Pictures and a bit of the past.
Books: I've been reading a lot lately. Since I discovered eReader.com I have been reading a lot. So much so I want to keep track of what's in progress, what's completed, and my thoughts and opinions on such. Again, as with everything in my blog, it's for my own personal use primarily, but I'll try to keep my audience in mind. I hope you find it useful, if not entertaining. This will probably be a separate forum type dealie, but we'll see.
Software: I've been trying a lot of different software lately, well, I suppose no more than usual, but the crop I've come across lately has been unusually good and helpful, and some of the games great fun. Most of it will be windows/palm based software, and chances are will be a separate blog from this one, linked in of course.
Photos: As some of you are no doubt aware, I have a new phone. A Motorola V600 that Tavish got for me for our anniversary. Among it's cool features is a camera that takes pretty decent pictures, and as such, I've been clickin'. My goal is to get one picture, hopefully well composed and somewhat interesting once per week. This is to be more of a catalyst for me to write more. Taking pictures is easy, so it gives me something to blog about. You've no doubt noticed the pictures accompanying my blog recently, and that's what this has been all about.
The Past: Before there was blogging, I wrote an on-line journal, and other bits I had on my website. Recently I acquired a program for my computer called x1 desktop search (a highly useful and amazingly fast local search tool, recommended) and began looking through my archives with it. I have since found a lot of debris I'm going to post. All of which will be dated with original post dates of course, so as not confuse. I hope you enjoy.
Re-write: The site will also get a code re-write if not redesign sometime soon as there are a few errors that keep it from rendering properly, more noticeable if you drill down into individual posts, I might even switch from Blogger to different software, we will see. This will mostly be transparent to you except that it will load faster, render correctly, and may even look different.
Encrypted: One of my plans is to have encrypted posts. I'm finding a barrier for me to post is my tendency to self censor. There is a good reason for that. One should be cautious how much one reveals to the general public when broadcasting ones personal thoughts. Not to mention, my mother subscribes to blog and there are just something I don't want her to know about, or things that aren't fit for the consumption of anyone. (No Mom, you don't have to unsubscribe.) I will probably have different circles of people who can read different posts, I'm not sure how I'm going to manage that but it will most likely involve PGP encryption, so if you see a big block of garbled text, that's what it's all about. More on this once I figure out how I want it to operate. So yeah, we'll leave it at that.
ps. Keep in mind, some of the retro stuff is almost 9 years old, I thought differently then, and I do now. If you're wondering if some of those same old ideas hold, well, that's what the comments section is for I guess.
